As far as I'm concerned, pirating is inevitable - It always has and always will be around to some extent. With advances in mass market technology over recent decades, pirating has certainly become more prevalent. Personally, I avoid it with respect to gaming - I only buy the most important games anyway, otherwise a rental or two would usually suffice. Furthermore, you can sell them secondhand and I rather like having the physical copies. Similarly, I prefer to purchase my movies and DVD's for the same reasons. Pirated music on the other hand, is so mainstream it is almost pointless to avoid.
