Who owns them is not really relevant. It's whether they are available, and for how much.

Renderware has apparently no longer being licensed by EA (but if you have it, you can still use it). It was great for getting around the PS2's architecture, but EA admitted they dropped the ball when it came to HD development for it. 



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
