Not quite the same and no different than current standard.
There is no forced online check.
The difference would be if EA wants to force a key system on their titles. But they could do that now with PS3, WiiU, etc.
This solution is still 1000x better than Xbone as its not an obligation on everyone. Its up to the publisher and then we as the consumer can choose to not accept it on a per game basis.
