Does anyone have any idea how much of a loss sony is taking by selling PS4 at $399?

Well most estimates put the APU and RAM to cost about $200 alone. Then once you add in the rest of the materials, packaging, etc.. you're likely around $400 to $450.

Which is why I've always thought they'd do $450 to just about break even or little profit. However, I also always thought the camera would be packed in and with this $399 bundle it is not.

So I'd bet Sony is pretty close to breaking even or taking a small loss once its all said and done and has a bundled game toption.

I think the APU and GDDR5 costs less than or close to $150 combined.

A 3 billion transistor chip in 28nm with good yields will cost ~$60... and the GDDR5 will not cost over $80... I will not be surprised if the two costs $100 only.
