The WiiU/X1 option for external HDDs is nice, but everyone prefers internal HDDs.
And it's not just the fact that an additional external HDD sitting next to the console just looks ugly. When you connect an external HDD to the X1, there are two HDDs running at the same time, which for example means twice the HDD noise/power consumption. And since all the core parts of the system etc. will most probably be stored on the X1's mechanical internal HDD, buying a fast SSD will provide much less of a speed advantage on the X1 than on the PS4.
