Some people are blowing this out of proportion. This was the pre-E3 conference. There is still E3.
Microsoft is releasing a new console, not a handheld, and presented it the same morning. Sony needed to give the new PS4 the big spotlight of the day to really stick the knife in the competition. The direct competition. Shifting too much focus would only dampen the impact.
You watched the first inning of a baseball game and are enraged that your team scored no runs. Some people even sound ready to storm out of the stadium in a fit!
