A glaring mis-step in an otherwise solid pro-gamer set of corporate policies (no restrictions on used game sales or lending, $399 price point, etc)

You don't see the rationale? What's not to get? It's $399 + a yearly tax because the yearly tax is what keeps it at $399 'cept you want sony to go out of business and voila, you get stuck with M$ DRM or keep playing mario and zelda in various iterations.
