The other stereotypes I think are pretty well founded (all around). |
I think that's a pretty ignorant statement about the other consoles. All around. But, the thing about posts like this is everyone is just going to say "oh well this stereotype is true, but this one isn't because I own this console and it's the 1337 awesomeness." There is a small amount of truth in every stereotype, but not nearly enough to justify the stereotypes they recieve. The fact is that these systems only recieve stereotypes from people who would prefer to have a general insult to use against the system they couldn't afford/didn't want/don't like. |
I own all 3 systems and I'm not trumpeting the horn of one over the others. Second of all the Sony stereotype is true because the PS3 is overpriced and the Nintendo one is true because Nintendo's products are always made for all ages which ends up with many of their games being kiddie ones. Nintendo consoles will always be dominated by Nintendo games even if all the 3rd parties bring their best games to it (which they haven't yet). You have no right to call it an ignorant statement. |
First, the stereotype wasn't that Sony's console was overpriced (which is technically a matter of opinion and perspective), but that they have a "Screw you" attitude. How do you end up contradicting yourself in one sentence? "the Nintendo one is true because Nintendo's products are always made for all ages which ends up with many of their games being kiddie ones." A game made for all ages is not a kiddie game. A kiddie game is Hannah Montana for DS. A Kiddie game is Yu-Gi-Oh GX on the PSP. A game for all ages is a game for all ages. If you still think Nintendo targets and sells to kids only, check this out http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/12/nintendo-wii-marketing-to-exceed-200-million/ |
I didn't contradict anything, I said their games usually end up kiddie when they are trying to appeal to all ages. Kiddies games could appeal to adults doesn't mean they're not kiddie.
Also the Sony sterotype works because if you think about it it's logical to think a company doesn't care about customers enough when their product is much higher priced than others competing with it. It's a logical stereotype.
A stereotype by definition is not a fact as in these are both valid stereotypes, doesn't make them 100% facts...
