sieanr said: @ Diomedes, good ole Phil is Executive Vice President of SCEE. I would say the title isn't incorrect since his wording implies that he is one of several presidents, which is kinda true. Does anyone find it funny that Peter Moore recently said MS needs to take a page from Nintendo, whereas Sony just reiterates their company line and ignores Nintendo's success. Seriously MS admits the success of a competitor and the failings of their product whereas Sony is steadfast in denial. Now regarding the MSX, go learn a little more about it. MSX wasn't made by just Sony but many Japanese electronics corporations as it was a hardware standard created by Microsoft. Using your logic, we could claim that MS was in the game industry before Sony. And MSX wasn't any more game centered than it's contemporary Commodore 64's or Atari Computers.... Long before Sony was making the MSX, Nintendo was producing arcade hardware. Not to mention the first MSX's were released at almost the same time as the Famicom. Goodbye.
Well Microsoft didnt made the hardware for the MSX .Microsoft ,if anything ,gave the first impulse asking the japanese developers to create a computer ,but then dissappeared from the project and didnt get involved at all in posterior years .The MSX was a computer very oriented to gaming ,more so than the C64 as many of its games were on cartridge and those cartridges had sound and custom chips to improve graphics for example .All the 8-bit computers (Atari XE-XL ,Amstrad CPC ,Spectrum ,MSX ,C64 ) received a ton of games per month so it is difficult to say wich was more game centered .In any case Sony has been in the hardware for computers and game consoles since as long as Nintendo . As for the XaviX it is clear Nintendo did closely copy that machine and stole its thunder because greater name and marketing and more economic resources .Ok ,I can accept that .But dont come a single more time saying the WIi is original and fresh ,the Wii right now is doing exactly what the XaviX has been doing for 2 years now . Phil Harrison is saying the rivals are doing great things and that Nintendo deserves a lot of praise yet you read he is spitting insults to Nintendo ......oh well fanboys ....
