Exactly. It's a short-term appeasement of fans that would've gotten your console anyway with the long-term result being a lower initial installed base (due to higher prices) or greater loss on hardware sold (due to higher costs) or a combination of both.

And all of these difficulties due to the incredibly outspoken fans who demand this feature.

I'm not really 'concerned' about anything game related. Sony could go bankrupt and DRM can be shoved up all our asses and my life would still be pretty much the same.

Am I making my point too poignantly, or what's the point of your post? If I made the point less clearly ("You yourself gave a perfect explanation of why this (very probably) will never happen") would you have not made this post?

I'm saying something simple: Stop this crying out for BC every single damn gen. It'll be there when it's convenient, OR in add-on form. It's not a big deal even though you think it is now.

I don't get "But burying the idea...?" either.
