Backwards Compatibility IS NOT huge and HAS NEVER been. HOW MANY PS1 games did anyone play on PS2!? Even with the improved textures, this feature was hardly ever used after the console was on the market for 2-3 years. Sure it's fun to replay FFIX, but those that want to do that already have a PSOne don't they?
EVERY gen so many people are clamoring for this shit without thinking that in 2 years they're not going to give a flying rat's-ass if it's there or not because a 2nd hand PS3 will be $75.
Really, I wish we could just put this one to bed.

I know a bunch of people who had a PSOne and moved on to PS2. One guy played Tony Hawk 2 on PS2 cause the textures looked nicer. One guy played FFIX. They played a bit here and there.
They mostly moved the PSOne and all the games into another room or gave it to their little brother etc.
Here's the important part: After the game drought finished (if you don't know about it you weren't there) and the hard hitters came pouring in, hardly anyone touched their PSOne games. IF it was done then it was just for nostalgia, and in that case the PSOne was just fine to use too.

If I would have been able to play Ps2 games on my Ps3, I would. I've played a load of ps1 games on my ps2 also. I'm fine with people not caring for BC, but seriously why should it be put to bed...? Some people do care, some don't, keep an open mind here. If by any chance the Ps4 has BC i'd be among the early adopters. Otherwise I will probably be waiting a couple of years untill there are enough interesting games for me.

Because it's the exact same shit every gen. This and "Oh I'm still happy with my PS3, we don't need a PS4". People are scared they'll lose out somehow.
From a pure business perspective it's idiotic to make a console more expensive to appease a few customers for a limited time.
If there's a seperate model or an add-on with this, then that's a completely different story.
I'm just sick of the "calls for BC" from people who haven't been gaming gen after gen after gen and thus haven't realized that it's a new machine with new software. You still have your old console. GO PLAY IT. JFC.
