I think they actually are split up into two teams already (which makes sense considering they have over 340 employees).
I would love to see what they are capable of for creating a brand new story line but I'm pretty sure MS is having them work on Halo only. From what I get, each team works on a Halo for two years so they can have yearly Halo releases.
