I already never buy used games and rarely sell my old games anyways. So the fact that they're crippling this market doesn't affect me negatively, and it will probably result in games being priced much lower. If the console market responds to this anti-used game in a similar manner as the PC market, we could be seeing games on sale for less than 15 bucks a measly year after release!

Hell, I've gotten used to paying <$15 for AAA titles on PC that haven;t even been out for half a year. It would be awesome if the console market moved towards that price scheme too.

I also think of it this way

A brand new console game costs $60, whereas a used copy is $55. A consumer comes along and buys the used copy. So the consumer saved a measly $5 and yet the developers of the game got screwed out of whatever their take from a $60 sale would have been. Let's say it would have been $40. So you save $5, devs miss out on $40, Gamestop makes all the profit. Why would I want my money to go to an unneccesary middleman rather than the people who made the product I'm enjoying, much less at a friggen 8 to 1 ratio?? I don't know what the real numbers are but either way, it's still a ridiculous ratio

In the reverse scenario, if I could pay $5 MORE for a game and this caused $40 extra to go to the devs, I'd probably do that to support those who make what I want.

I like the idea of used games because they incentivize price drops on the new copy. But when a game is still less than a couple months old, I just think they cause more harm than good. Oh yeah, and I hate the idea of DLC but devs will continue to use DLC as a means to make money from used games. So crippling used games could also have the side effect of stopping friggen day 1 DLC bs

Point being: I love the price points on steam and wish consoles were like that.
