I think theres alot of confusion. Supporters of DRM try to evoke piracy as a reason, but its hardly the reason. Piracy became mostly irrelevant this gen. This is all about greed. They couldnt handle that retailers and consumers were having a good thing going and they werent part of it, even though they have no right to it.
