As a consumer, who enjoys the gaming industry, I am willing to accept certain changes that need to be made in order that the industry survives. But yes, that is just my opinion when looking at the facts. If someone can find a better alternative, than I'd be happy to endorse it.

And all this talk about rights... I don't know your particular case, but I don't think that people are mad that they won't be able to resale their games. It's not like we can get much back from it anyways. People are made because they cannot purchase a game used.

Far better alternative than stripping away consumer rights.  http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=161722&page=1#

I collect so as long as I enjoy the game I won't be selling it.  However, when I go back to play these games in 20 years when the network is shut down, I'll have no acess to these games.  I have around 80-90 PS3 games, but I'm certain there's one or two games I'll like that I didn't purchase.  What happens if this was the case for the Xbox One, the game was no longer in print, was not on the Xbox One digital store, and couldn't be purchased new?  So even while Xbox One servers are still running I'd be locked out of playing a game I just happened to overlook.

*edit*

Also.  Here's another reason that the policy is not good for gamers as it would hurt small publishers and probably less niche games would get localized.

With no way to trade or sell used games to friends or sell them at decent prices like on Ebay or as an Amazon seller, people are going to be more skeptical about purchasing a game that they may or may not like.  Niche games.  A lot of the sales come from people not caring about throwing $60 on a game because they know they'll probably be able to get close to that amount by reselling on Ebay if they don't like it.  What happens to those same niche publishers now?  People just don't take the chance and buy the game.  The Japanese developers are giving countless excuses on why they don't release games in the west, and something like this could be t he final nail in the coffin for them to stop localizing games altogether.
