Using a graphical engine from almost 10 years ago ?

Not so next gen after all.

The latest version is Source 2009 so 4 years.

Which is just an update.

The Engine is really old;

Updates make a hell of a difference, especially when we're talking about someone as thrifty as Valve.

The most important thing is that this allows the game to run at 60 frames per second. Essential for competetive online multiplayer.

People wonder why CoD is so successful?

Have you played Portal ?

Great game in essence but the graphich look bad for today's standards.

COD is even more dated in terms of tech.

This is what Source is capable of.

This video was made in Source Filmmaker. 100% in-engine.

"outdated tech" hasn't hurt CoD's sales.

For years people with no real understanding of programming, 3D modeling or game development have been complaining about CoD's engine.

There is more to an engine than graphics. Like stability and performance.

Call of Duty is known for it's smooth fast-paced twitch gameplay and Respawn (the guys who created CoD) are aiming for the same thing with Titanfall.
