You can also go offline totally and play offline with the Xbox One. You just need to make it go online every 24hrs. His answer is vague, IMO.

So, online registration is up to the publishers and online isn't required... If someone without an internet connection puts their used game in the publishers would never know. For those of you saying Sony has dodged questions they have been straight forward since the reveal. They have never changed their answers. I don't believe Sony ever planed to implement DRM. I don't know where this site wide notion has come from. If sony were going to use the watermark patent (which sites reported Sony denied it was for the Ps4) then how could they say used games would work... Especially since they don't require the internet. How the hell could they possibly enforce it? I'll give you a hint... they cant. |
Internet won't be required if they use the RFID tag patent. Yoshida said that they never thought of using an always online DRM system, not once mentioning used games in his sentence. Using the RFID tag wouldn't require the PS4 to be always online and it would allow games to be resold if the system was connected on the internet. You could still play the system totally offline if you bought new games only.
Anyway, I guess we should all wait till Sony clarifies it's DRM policy officially on the PS4 site like MS did on the Xbox site. Their responses till now have been very vague, so don't be surprised if not everyone believes in what was said like you do.
