Well the brutal truth is why should they care about "underprivileged gamers"? That is a poor target market who will give you small returns. You will find 99% of all companies operate under that idea so why should gaming be any different?

This is very true. What Microsoft is doing is no different then any other company that makes high end products designed for first world countries. They shouldn't be attacked for going for a specific target audience. Their target audience is a). People who have plenty of money and b). People who think they have plenty of money (these are the type of people that buy nice products on credit usually).

It sucks for these "underprivileged gamers" because they essentially aren't allowed to enjoy that product (or they have to go through a lot of trouble to enjoy it) but they have plenty of other options. If we went by the logic of "If I someone else isn't able to enjoy something, then I shouldn't be able to either." then we wouldn't be able to enjoy anything technology or service based because someone else is out there that can't enjoy it.

Gamers for a big part have always been students or people around that age, MS is disoriented about what their target audience is me thinks.

Yeah a big part of their target audience is kids, teenagers, and college students. The majority of those will not have a problem with the online check thing, especially considering the next generation of kids are growing up in an always online environment and will not think twice about something like this.

I'm a college student, and don't have much money, yet I am perfectly OK with it.

On a side note I don't think they will require a 24 hour checkup on games that you bought digitally. The only reason for the 24 hour check is to keep people from buying games, installing them, going offline forever, and selling them right away to get most of their money back despite still being able to play them.
