Finicky or Realistic? I remember Killzone being blasted for similar reasons for actually making a realistic aiming mechanism. TLOU is aiming for building realistic tension for the player. Reticules are not just going to line up so you can feel like a Cowboy like in actual shooters. This is my impression anyway from what I have seen and heard. I have not played the demo so I can't say for myself just yet. Also, it is this kind of discrepency that causes such an uproar when games get reviewed. People percieve the same idea in totally different ways. When some reviews deem games "repetitious" I personally scoff at the idea of any game NOT being repititious at it's core to some degree. "All you do is press X" is a lame and overused excuse to call a game out on it, when most games can be almost entirely played with 2 buttons and a stick. It is the timing and skill that go into those few button presses that make it all worth while. I mean think about it, early JRPGs only required X and DPad to control it. Does that really make it repititious? Different Strokes... |
Realistic or not, its very frustrating when theres monster that 1 shots you and several others to maul you up. It makes fights very annoying affairs.
With that said its not a fault worth 2.5 points in a 10 point scale. It gives some frustration in those moments but the rest is not short of amazing. I cant comment on the story wich the reviewer didnt seem to like. It sounds alot like the mass effect 3 case where someone doesnt like the ending therefore the whole game sucks. Cant side with that kind of conclusion.
