The most powerful countries are not ruled by the people for the people, but by agendas of powerful people that want to be more powerful than they are, and keep the masses ignorant and happy so that they can make all they want. In the USA as with many other countries this "democracy" and "capitalism" is serving them to make the people "happy" with all the B$ of the "land of oportunity"; but then from the shadows this agendas are going further and further with their true intentions and ripping peoples rights; because they dont care about the people. The sad thing is that most people does not care to go deeper, and just face the ilussion of freedom and human rights; and they are happy with that. And yeah; USA is using all this terrorism as excuse to do what they please. That way the whole country is unified against "the evil" and so if there are different kind of problems in the country (did on purpose); then some terrorist crap happens (lovely coincidence); an the president goes live an speaks about how they will defeat terrorism; and then all the buzz and the bad things the government was doing disappear; and people stays focused on the terrorism and forget their rights are being screwed. In general, if the ruler of a country does not work for his people; any system ends up being a piece of $hit; but democracy and capitalism give you the more tools to "enslave" people easier; if you have no good intentions with the people you are supposed to rule. |
Except most people aren't happy anymore, what with higher unemployment, natural disasters getting worse and a economy which is not healing due to destructive policies like austerity. I guess you are right the elite can do what they want, but if things don't generally improve people will take matters into their own hands. Not neccesarily revolution but just refuse to comply by government and law. People are often swayed by hope in a desperate time, especially if things don't improve. It's why politicial extremists, anarchists, communists and fascists end up gaining power. I don't think it's that bad in Western Europe or America yet, that people believe in those ideologies but they are certainly disillusioned. As you say most people aren't that interested, but that ain't surprising when all they see are 2 parties of the same corporate wing, an alternative is needed. The media needs a true alternative as well, they seem to also cover up what bad shit happened or say it when something bad is happening. Alot like how companies like Apple were found to avoid taxes just when the Boston explosion happened. funny that.
