i just can't see IOs and MSony as being anywhere close to the same thing.  ..and i'll sum it up with this.

free apps to make up 89% of 2012 downloads.

"In terms of the apps that consumers are buying, 90 percent of the paid-for downloads cost less than $3 each," Sandy Shen, research director at Gartner, said in a statement.

when money doesn't exchange hands the same rules just don't apply. i don't care if i can resell a free game and  $1 games are much more disposible than $60 games.

And ironically enough its now a well known fact both Sony and MS are massively investing in F2P games. In fact Mark Rein from Epic said its one of the major focuses on PS4 and X1. The gaming market is changing drastically.

which is great and all, choice is awesome. ..but MS isn't putting a vast DRM infrastucture in place to protect free-to-play games.  there will be plenty of $60 (..or even $70 according to one rumor) games as well.  ..especially among the games that gamers want to play.  destiny, halo, CoD, uncharted won't be going free-to-play.
