Sony has explicitly stated that used game DRM will be left up to publishers. They've repeated this a few times already.

And I guarantee publishers are going to jump on it. This is Sony's way of deflecting blame. Well.. that's what it looks like so far. We'll have to see how publishers react once both consoles are released.

granted, but retailers like Gamestop have openly talked about MS system. They have not stated or even leaked/rumored anything for PS4.

While I think that Sony has always planned for a similar DRM (I've stated as such many times already), I do think they may have backtracked off of it completely due to the fallout MS has seen and the clear ability to differentiate themselves and their console in this manner.
