I think you're missing the point of the game. The Last of Us brings a certain intensity to gaming again, a sense of difficulty that we haven't felt since arcade games. It's not just another action game with zombies. The Last of Us puts you in a world where humanity is long forgotten and the only sense of humanity left is the relationship between the two main characters, Joel and Ellie. You're not given anything to start out with, you have to scavenge for weapons and ammo and play tactically because you can't just run out guns blazing. You scavenge for supplies to make first aid kits and craft weapons, but don't expect to be able to take a break while doing so, you do all of this in real time. With the enemies constantly searching for you, lurking around the next corner. You're forced to think like a survivor, to act strategically. This isn't Call of Duty, this isn't Uncharted, this isn't Halo. You've got to be careful to survive, you don't have shields, you don't regenerate while crouched in a corner, and you certainly aren't superhuman. I think this game is amazing, the concept behind it is just brilliant, it's no wonder why it's getting such universal praise. Nobody has dared to make a game like this, and to do all of this and tell a fantastically sad story at the same time is just unthinkable. I have not yet played the game, but I do understand it, it isn't a rehash of any kind, The Last of Us is a unique experience. |
Seems like you speak of Enslaved, underrated title. Like i said before, from it's setting it's mechanics, it's nothing special at all. Sure the sotry looks promising but for me it doesn't look like a ten. I never actually played it. I only saw footage, i can't say anything more then that.
