I'm a old user here and everythime somebody says in a racing game thread that the genre is dying... that the FPS genre is dominating and nobody care more about racing games.

That always makes me think a lot.

First because there are a lot of racing games being released every year... same or more than the PS2 era... so how can we say the genre was dying?

And now? After the crazy GT5 numbers every company wants to have a racing game for the next generation.

  • Gran Turismo 6 (PS3) - Polyphony Digital, Holiday 2013
  • Forza Motorsport 5 (Xbone) - Turn 10, Holiday 2013
  • Drive Club (PS4) - Evolution, Holiday 2013
  • Project Cars (PS3/PS4/360/Xbone/Wii U/PC) - Slightly Mad Studios, Q1 2014
  • Next Need for Speed (?) - Criterion Games, TBA
  • The Crew (?) - Ubisoft, TBA
  • Next Grid (?) - Codemasters, TBA
  • F1 2013 (PS3/360/Wii U/PC) - Codemasters, 2013
  • Next Project Gotham Racing (Xbone) - Bizarre Creations, TBA
  • Gran Turismo 7 (PS4) - Polyphony Digital, TBA
  • New Mario Kart (Wii U) - Nintendo, TBA

So how can anybody say "the racing genre is dying"? Seems like the next-generation will be even better for us racing gamers.
