I think it is because polygon has scored it low based on things taken lightly in other games ie hiccups with the AI, and hard parts where you are overwhelmed by numerous enemies. The author tries to paint a convincing picture about why he doesn't like it, but ends up contradicting himself. Also, it just seems strange their review is so far off from pretty much every other reviewer. When 25 people agree something is great and 2 people in the crowd say its just okay, I find that to be strange, especially when it's supposed to be an objective review.
