haha, i wish. Nah, opposed to being its own gaming entity its been for 2 decades. You know...castlevania.

Its "Me too" gaming at its best...well maybe right behind Resident Evil.

Just like SOTN. You know... Your avatar.

Deny it all you want. There's a reason why we call this formula Metroidvania. Me too at its best, indeed. ^_-

And by best, I literally mean best. Because SOTN is one of the best game ever. A true gem among the me toos. But the original, Super Metroid, has always been its superior. =P

Im cool with games using other games ideas for influences as long as they do their own thing with them. RE4 was one of the nest game reboots ever and it was nothing like its predecessors.

I was a castlevania fan before I discovered Metroid, but I will agree that Super Metroid is the shizzle. Only reason why SOTN beats it is because of the soundtrack...and you know...it has a secret which if you discover you double its length. :P

Ha ha ha! A secret is usually not THAT obvious. =P

I just don't share your hate for Lords of Shadow. Sure, it's a lot like God of War and Shadow of the Collossus. But I like this kind of gameplay.

Bck at their roots, Castlevania, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Y's III,  and even The Adventure of Link were pretty much the same types of games back then...
And like 3D Mario and 2D Mario games are different in their play style, 3D Castlevania and 2D Castlevania can go different routes as well. Yet, I think of Lord of Shadow as a game more in the vein of what Super Castlevania 4 would be if done in 3D, rather than the ones that used the Metroidvania style. And I really enjoyed SC4. The current kind of 3d games that comes closest to those 2D ones from back then are the Shadow of the Colossus and God of War of the current era.
