Because it uses the same AMD APU as the X1, but with a slightly better gpu supposedly...

If X1 is having yield issues with its APU, PS4 would be in the same boat.

My understanding was that the difficulty came primarily from this eSRAM stuff though, namely that using it in these quantities is the straw that's breaking the camel's back. Supposedly the PS4's use of GDDR5 RAM lets them escape trying to use the same "shortcut" as Microsoft, hence this is part of why it's going smoother for them. Also, there was something about Sony sending its own engineers to assist in the APU's development for the PS4.

I won't pretend to say whether any of this is true, or even pretend that I fully understand it, but that's the scuttlebutt I've been hearing.

The article Soleron posted doesnt talk about SRAM but only mentions APUs.

eSRAM is just embedded static RAM. You can buy those at the corner supermarket... That alone cannot be the bottleneck. Could be some engeneering oversight involving esram, but I doubt any of these leaks have any clue. The moment they start pointing to the eSRAM alone its obvious youre talking nonsence.
