It's a small price to pay if you want something at launch.

My RROD happened almost in It's second year and I had a refurb afterwords. I ended up getting the slim a few years ago, it worked out well for me.

Either way I severely doubt MS is stupid enough to have another RROD fiasco.

If this is "working out well" I don't know what would be a bad experience be. I still use my old console, 3 hours a day minimum ( there are other people in the house). It is 5 years old. No signs of failure.
