Title is a lie.

None of that tells me "why" ALL content is somehow better attached to my ID in DRM locking sort of way.

Yes, I can see value in all content essentially being a digital copy. I personally want it to all move that way, however, even iOS and especially Android allow me to very easily access my content on a very large number of devices.

Additionally, the concept of buying a disc that is essentially worthless after activating the content on my device seems pointless and anti-consumer. If I buy the physical media, that should be all I ever need... including if I gift it or lend it out. But this partly goes back to the larger argument against the way software is sold to consumers under licenses vs ownership.

I honestly hope MS fails at this. As its underlying policies are a gateway to never owning anything again.. only renting it as long as they servers remain active and in EAs case that will mean 12mos.
