I'd fit into that first category of usually buying only one console as I was younger than and on a limited budget. Hopefully this generation I can grab more than one but with med school looming that may not happen as spare time will decrease quite rapidly.

I also like your statement rol about low price being meaningless if compared to "perceived value". Just because I wouldn't buy a $249 360/PS3 doesn't mean it's not worth it. It's just not worth it for me and what I look to get out of the consoles.

 

Also as far as the PS2/GC RE4 debacle.  It goes like this Wii > PS2 > GC > PC

The PC version is trash as for some stupid reason they didn't have the mouse included in the controls.  GC looks better than PS2 but the extras are better on PS2.  Assignment Ada is useless but Separate Ways is actually pretty interesting and helps flesh out Ada's role throughout the game.  The WIi version i'd say wins out because it has all the extra features of the PS2 plus the best controls (and even if you don't like those controls for whatever reason you can use a GC controller).
