Back in the late 80'-early 90's, the Canadian dollar was only worth about 70 cents of on U.S. dollar, and weak in general. Games were the biggest hit in extra cost for some reason (still seems shadey, like retailers were jacking up the price). They were routinely 70-80$. Double Dragon on NES was 99$. I bought on a trip to the U.S. for 40$. I paid 120$ plus 14% sales tax for Phantasy Star 2 on the Genesis. I'm still willing to pay more, but I'd be buying fewer games.
