In terms of probability, there is more chance that we can prove that there is extra-terrestrial life than there is God.
In fact in terms of probability there MUST BE extra-terrestrial life. This is simple science and logic.
As for people who are "skeptical", they are just plain stupid, the kind of people who believe they are smart because they believe the media but not what's outside of it. Well let me tell you that the NASA itself believes in extra-terrestrial forms and incorporates this fact in all their space observation/exploration projects.
