Retro is great but they are nothing compared to what Rare meant to Nintendo in its hey-day. Naughty Dog has been pumping out hits for Sony since the mid-late 90's.

Retro has the potential to be the next Rare but there output hasnt been fast enought.

Between 1994-2002 I think Rare released at least one game a year, Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Blast Corps, GoldenEye, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Tooie, Jet Force Gemini, Conkers Bad Fur Day and Star Fox Adventures.

On the other hand Retro has made 4 games in just over 10 years. Metroid Prime trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

I think Retro needs to get a 2nd team started and release a game every other year just like Naughty Dog.

Rare made new IP's which filled Nintendos new IP gap because eventually at some point they just stop cold turkey with them and they gave them the genres they wouldnt make themselves. They need to make Retro do that or they aren't filling Rares shoes by a long shot. Retro are basically Nintendos errand boys to make quality nostalgia games. They could be great, but Nintendo wont let them.

Nintendo certainly should do more with them, but they haven't stopped them being great.

To be great all you need is to make great games, which Retro has done.

Retro has made great games but not enough to be stated in the same sentence as Naughty Dog who kept making new IP's which turned into hits. Unlike Rare, Naughty Dog is an example of Sonys vision for games. Retro is Nintendos sequel factory and good games or not thats all they'll be to me. Great yes, but great for a sequel company.

I agree with this for the most part but I think simply saying they make sequels is wrong, more like they bring back dead franchises (which technically are sequels but u know what I mean).
