Hmmm.... I wonder why Animal Crossing: New Leaf only needs less than 2m in sales (VGC has been behind on NL sales due to digital sales since they first started trying to track the game) to pass Wild World in sales for Japan... Looks like Japan is eating up the game and if I could bet anyone I would bet that Animal Crossing will light up the sales charts in USA and Europe on its release. Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be the most sold in the series. Animal Crossing is a system seller for hand helds.

Japan.... There's a big culture difference when it comes to casual gaming from Japan to the west.

I don't think the DS ever got any special Animal Crossing unit (I don't think they really did that many special DS units like they have with 3DS). Animal Crossing 3DSXL bundle is coming to USA and Europe right? This should only add fuel to the fire for the sales. There are a decent amount of Animal Crossing fans out there from the DS days. Seeing Animal Crossing released on 3DS would probably warrant a purchase for many of these fans. Please don't mention anything about smartphones... Even the casuals know any sim based smartphone game doesn't compare to Animal Crossing.

You'll just have to see the numbers for yourself.

Sounds good. We will just have to wait. If AC:NL passes 7m by end of this year would you be open to possibility that it could pass 12m lifetime sales?

It depends on the rate at which it is selling. Honestly, I don't see how anyone could think that the casuals are buying as many 3DS games as they did for the DS.
