Yes, but it depends on which rebels come out on top. If the regime falls and the Nusra Front take over then that's probably worse for US interests, women's rights and minority rights. That's why the world should work to have the FSA, Muslim Brotherhood come out on top because if they let things go as they are now the allies of Al Qaeda are going to win.
Before anyone argues that the rebels are all terrorists and jihadists, the Syrian government has funded terrorism for decades and Hizb Allah (the most organized terror group in the world) is fighting on the side of the government (and they are as religiously fanatical as the Nusra front).
