According to who? You? Please link me a article showing that the decline in the casual game market will be because of smartphones.

You are taking this wrong. This, as all the things I posted here, are possibilities. Unlike the OP which you should spend a little more time analyzing, most of what I wrote here as points was redacted as possibilities, while OP wrote all those things and wants to take them for granted.

The casual market gets entertained and takes away his gaze to other things, the casual market is not like: "Let me check what are the new consoles that are coming out and then I will choose which one I want". Someone will have to hit the nail to tap into this market and get something of theirs enough famous to attract the attention of media and get word of mouth going so that this market becomes aware of it.

I am not talking in absolutes, OP is talking in absolutes. Xbone could hit it big, why not? All is possible in a world where so many people endoreses things like the Transformer films. Nothing surprises me. But OP, YOU, ME, NO ONE can take for certain that the Xbone will be a success. I am not the one taking things for granted. Why didn't you question OP instead of me when he wrote this?

Xbox Live "will" attract millions of gamers and non-gamers and so will Kinect.

He is the one taking things for granted. Go ask him why he takes things for granted.

Honestly the WiiU screwed up for many reasons, the main reason IMO being people did not know if it was a new console or just a add on to the wii. Nintendo's marketing team really screwed up here.

This is the casual market I am talking about. The one that doesn't even know the difference between a Wii and a WiiU. This is the casual market that is not paying attention to what is happening in the world of gaming and is not having much expectancy or maybe zero expectancy at all. This is the casual market that can't tell the difference between a Wii and a WiiU. Redirect to my first comment up there, maybe your own words will help you understand it better. In order to draw them casuals back into gaming, one of these companies needs to create an awareness that goes beyond the frontiers of gaming, to such an extent that can reach them.

You have your opinion about WiiU and why it hasn't been a spiritual successor to Wii in terms of sells, your opinion cannot be proven and it doesn't need to. Marketing could be a factor, yes, but IMO it simple wasn't an attractive offering that could get all things going like the Wii did, especially the "let's exercise our children with the Wii to show how good parents we are" thingy. Nintendo sat the children in order to play once again.

How is it wishful thinking? Kinect was the fastest selling consumer electronic of all time, saying it wont be succesful again is what you call wishful thinking (not saying you think that but you wouldn't have mention it if you didn't). I do doubt it will be as successful though.

Fastest selling consumer electronic? Faster than iPhone, iPad, and even Wii? I am honestly asking you because I don't know and I am lazy to look for numbers, you are the one making this claim so I ask you to put forward proof to take this statement from yours for granted.

Kinect was successful, yes. Micro got a lot of profit from it I presume. But here we are talking about getting the casuals. Was Kinect as successful as to prevent Sony, whose Move controllers didn't sell anywhere near as good in comparison, from outselling the 360? If the casuals would have embraced the thing with open arms PS3 wouldn't have erased the gap like it did, 360 would have taken off.

Has Kinect sold more copies, more numbers of units than that achieved by the console itself? Prove me that this units were bought by casuals and were not bought by already existing owners of 360. I am sure new people bought new 360s with Kinect, but I also remember people saying they re-bought Xboxes - as they used to do frequently in this generation - when those bundles with Kinect showed up. How many copies were bought separately for gamers that were already owners? How many were sold as bundles? I am talking about Kinect getting the casuals here, not about Kinect being successful or not.

It is wishful thinking to take things for granted like OP said. Everything I wrote here is a response to the way OP always makes threads taking things for granted in favor of his dear company.

I am more positive than you when it comes to Kinect, I feel that now that it is bundled with every console it could generate even more buzz word and be something that doesn't divide the user base, as every developer knows that every Xbone owner can play a Kinect game.

Okay calm down, did the OP offend you in any way? XBL is constantly growing, so yes when MS up the ante it will attract gamers. If you do not believe that heres an article from last month showing how fast xbox live is growing

http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/xbox-360-sales-and-xbox-live-membership-numbers-give-microsoft-a-compelling-defense-for-the-always-online-next-xbox/

According to the article there was only 25 million XBL subscribers as of dec. 2010 and by april of this year it has increased to 46 million. Nearly doubled in little over 2 years. You know what this means right? XBL is attracting more consumers, if it wasn't the amount of subscribers wouldn't rapidly increase as much as they do.

46 million? They are still 20+ million behind the units sold for their own console.

OP taking for granted Xbox Live will attract new people. Of course Xbox Live has to increase, new consoles Xbox consoles are being sold and Xbox owners need to get into the thing in order to play online, they have no choice but to buy. He is talking about Xbox Live attracting people and, as he always does, takes everything for granted in favor of Micro. People could be interested in what Xbox Live has to offer or not, no one can take it for granted like OP says.

Every new feature in DS4 is a gimmick, other than the share button. The touchpad is beyond useless, whats can the touch pad do that i cannot already do with my thumbstick? Just like sixaxis it will be abandoned. The xbox one controller on the other hand seems to bring much more innovation such as the impulse triggers.

Ign's impressions of it

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8ChUM9KgBw

Prove me that the touchpad will be useless. Show me the proof that determines without any possibility of achieving the contrary that this feature won't be used in a meaningful way. Demonstrate this to me or your point has no validity.

The touchpad could be used for RTS games, for moving the cursor like a laptop when browsing the internet, for playing games like Infinity Blade and make the character slash and attack in the direction you touch the touchpad. We will see what it can do and how it is used.

Now, whatever it will be able to do will be more meaningful as it is an IMPUT METHOD isntead of just a thing that makes you feel the controller a little different in the triggers. I like the idea of the rumble with varying degrees of rumble depending on what is being done in the game, I like it. But in no way it will be more meaningful than an imput method which can help you approach what the avatar within a game does. You are simply feeling rumble in your fingers, instead on the palm of your hand.

You think is gimmick? I won't argue with you, arguing about such things is a waste of time. I don't consider it gimmick, so it makes your opinion against mine. Let everyone take them whichever way they want.

You write this thread as if things were secured for Micro when no one knows how things will play out. I find your threads hilarious.

The irony

Irony? What irony? I never took things for granted and only pointed out possibilities against the scenarios that OP takes for granted. Xbone could be successful, it could, or maybe it will end up being third, who knows? But no one can take it for granted like OP blindly swears.
