Just look at the reviews their 2013 top end 1080p TVs are getting (KDL-55W900A). They can not compete on price or features... The can't compete on the cheap end either.

there is more to the market than just the market Leader's! you can carve out a good section of the market even if you are not the market leader! you can always build up from there once you fix the parts that are killing your bottom line or is of no use to fix, if anything Sony will sell off, the TV production to another company, yes that means there will be reductions in manpower, but that also means they are not going to go public with parts of the company they feel do not need to go public with.

Yes It has become very clear, the part's of Sony that some investor's want to get @ are not Public, and Sony is not going to budge! they see these Hedge funds as "vultures" and they would rather swallow a poison Pill than to let That part of the COMPANY GO PUBLIC!

THE DIRECTION IS ALSO CLEAR THAT SONY WILL TRY, every thing they can to avoid selling off large chunks of the company unless they have to in order; so as to keep those 160,000+ employed over @ Sony ..employed! if anything Kaz has already told Investor's over the past year and a half where the majority of cuts are going. Dan Lobe and his hedge fund can ask for such a Request for a Private part of the Company to go public, but even with his very robust 5% of the company he would have to convince quite a number of japanese investors to follow suit. in the past 40 year's no other Hostile pressure from a west Hedge fund has had any luck to do such to a japanese ran corp., and i doubt very much he will have any clear chance to do so anyway.

Sony is not going to let this part be spun off and let the other part die on the vine, which its doing anyway. Sony would rather I think take the loss sell off non profit bearing part's of the company and work from those parts that are generating profit, and Software and the games console part is just that generating Profit!
