and actually they don't put down any money or anything (atleast at amazon) and can cancel at any time, so it's really just a good place at the top of the line for free at this point

I guess if you don't have to put any money down and can cancel anytime then its alright. Some places I saw (and I don't pre-order consoles) require some kind of deposit, which is a no no for me if I don't know the console.
