Being common and old doesn't make things wrong - go say that to your grandma. I don't use windows btw I'm using a UNIX based OS  

You pay like a few cents for it  to be put on a disc and in a plastic box. The data is still licensed. They could also implement a way to delete the data on your discs, it would still be legal because you only have a license to use it.

Common and old may not be wrong, but it shows that people haven't cared for many many years.
