I'm just going to copy/paste what I said on another thread that fits in here as well:

When people said that Nintendo products were kiddy, I had no problem with that. A console to me (any gaming console from any company in the gaming industry) is a toy, a very expensive electronic toy, but a toy non the less.

Ever since Microsoft came in the gaming industry with the online subscription, I was very wary about where they were going with this, it was becoming more than just an expensive electronic toy.
Granted, Sony started with this trend with playing soundtrack CD's, but it didn't affect the industry much...

Now I see Microsoft is making console much more than just a toy that is affecting the gaming industry very negatively. I can't play with my toys freely anymore. When did it ever become that I need to pay for a subscription to give me permission to play with my toy that I already bought...

Think about it:
Make a profit to make games
Make games to make a profit
At some point, these same words flipped and it's doing more bad than good...
