So tell me: Who or what changed the tv channel when the guy yelled "ESPN" into the micro?

The xbox, but I'm honestly not sure if or how the xbox is able to communicate backwards through the hdmi out port.

Thinking about it, it is in theory possible if the XBox One "HDMI In" is bidirectional HDMI 1.4 Ethernet and the cable box "HDMI out" also is  bidirectional HDMI 1.4 Ethernet compliant. Chances are probabloy zero on the average cable box side, though.
