Microsoft is preparing 300,000 servers for Xbox One on day one.

This is apparently spin, according to Jonathan Blow:

More cloud processing BS: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/report-xbox-one-performance-upped-by-cloud-processing/ … Someone please call their bluff on this.

Also, someone please ask if these fabled 300,000 servers are real hardware, or just the total size of Windows Azure (which then implies

XBL would only ever get a portion of that).

(I am going to launch an online indie game and claim it has as many servers as Amazon S3 has...)

Oh that indie developer, who created one $10 game in its entire career and just signed a deal with Sony, does not like XBL.
He might be a good designer for puzzle games, but there are way smarter people at MS when it comes to cloud computing.

I think it is funny that MS spent bilions on R&D for cloud computing and have thousands of people working on it for years and one indie game designer comes up with this. He never did anything in the cloud except having a mail account on amazon.

You never did anything either. So at this point, either you blindly believe their PR, or you're skeptical like most people.

Seems you already chose. Which was expected.

No, I am not chosing any side.

You blindly follow his view and I am skeptical on his knowledge for cloud computing since he has never ever done anything with it and therfore has no experience at all. He is just a designer for puzzle games. You should be skeptical for both parties.

I just see the potential for hybrid games getting data of the cloud and from the disc / HDD. Of course this is something his games will never achieve due to lack of budget, skill and experience.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
