The PC was not an entertainment device, it was concieved and marketted as a business device.  it's secondary function was an educational device for learning (programming) or school work (reports).  A tieriary function became playing games, and that didn't happen until later as the only games available in the early 1980s were text adventures.  If you wanted graphical games, you weren't playing on a PC.  In the 1980's, as today, if you wanted to play games, the console was the best device for gaming.  There were more games, using graphics, with color, and the cost to entry was lower.

PCs as true entertainment devices didn't happen until the 2000's, more than two decades after the PC was first created.  While the visual quality of games had improved significantly in the 1990's, the media capabilities of the PC as a true entertainment device wouldn't be there until the last decade.       

If you're going to try to talk about the historical significance of something, don't do it when there are people who were there when something took place.  I mean your first PC was a square box, with switches and lights on the front of it, that you soldered and assembled yourself from parts.

Why does it matter that the PC was initially intended for? What the platform is now and what is does is what matters.
