Yes, he's Italian, but he is from South Tyrol, where the majority of people speak German, and he ran a studio in Munich in the 70s and 80s.

@benoa87: I bought Giorgio by Moroder, Beyond and Lose Yourself to Dance.

The town where he was born at Urtijei, Italy 84.19% of the population speaks Ladin so that's probably the language he learned and spoke first before Italian and German.  He also has the most common last name from that town.

I know where he was born and I'm pretty sure Moroder speaks at least four languages: Ladin, German, Italian and English. Doesn't change the fact that he has a German accent despite being Italian.
