Well the nature of "cloud" services is it does not matter what the box can do, it just has to access something, be a window to something, all the other processing is handled somewhere else, so we can not say exactly that cloud services are the reason its behind, I would say its likely the ram most of all, but I feel they could augment their system by eating into the onboard flash memory via a system update. In any case I don't think any system could stay behind, there is no reason, barring exclusivity that any system will have to lack (forever) nearly all the same multimedia features.
