Truly great games are cross generation. Graphics are nothing without a great game behind them. Don't get me wrong, I love a cracking looking game. But I'd certainly take Mario Galaxy 2 over most PS360 games and I don't doubt Nintendo will produce Wii U games that make me feel the same.

These "next generation" connectivity features are really concerning me to be fair. I don't like the way they're basically turning disc products into physical downloads with a single use license. If they do that, I may as well pay £15-20 less for the PC version of the game.

As for backwards compatibility. It's nice to have it all in the same box, but I can't say I care too much as for the most part, I want a new console to play the new games coming out for it. It's also not as if by the time previous systems have seen their lifespan out, there aren't cheap enough and small enough models to keep along side if need be.
