Exactly. Considering the new features, they had to cut that off basically the same as with PC games (and basically ALL digital purchases on XBLA and PSN ...).
As the picture is slowly coming to clarity for me (I may start a thread later), this seems like a way for PUBLISHERS to get all of the pre-owned sales instead of just retail. Publishers could set a preowned price to activate a game based on its age, just like retail does now. Maybe Gamestop and the publishers will work out a deal to share the profits, but regardless GS WILL see a huge hit in profits. And they should. They were exploiting of a technical and market situation for years at the expense of game publishers and now it's coming to roost.
The only place I definitely see this as unfair is with game trading, borrowing and renting. Not sure what they can do that gamers won't find a way to exploit, but it sure would be nice if they could come up with a solution that doesn't cost us more than it does now.
