Chrono Cross is a magnificent game. There are very few games where OST really brings out the intended emotion as accurately as a CC does. The battle system is similar in flow to Xenogears/Xenosaga/Sands of time(each character gets a chance to combo and finsh off with special or magic). Thats the first comparison I can make off top of my head. No random encounters.
