Sony's conference gave a far better taste of what is to come for the platform, especially when it comes to games. It felt more focused. KZ may look like "another shooter" but at this point don't they all??? Infamous continues to be a shining point of what is possible in an open world. The trailer was in-game, and particle effects being pulled off in that series are truly something to marvel......plus they are just great games. Knack was to appease a certain crowd that Sony finds themselves neglecting every so often, later interviews revealed something interesting about it. Sony says Knack felt riminicent of Crash Bandicoot, and thats what swayed them. We shall see on that of course. Drive Club is filling a void that will be left by no big racing title for the console just yet, but will be a perfect showcase of power. Nevertheless, they all felt like really solid Launch games, the kind of which you rarely see. Most console launches are terrible and only have 2 noteworthy titles at best. Sony assured that there is at least 4-5 there for you. Everything Sony talked about was just....positive. Other than no BC, there was not a single dark spot in it. Gamers like the idea of sharing, eliminating load times, being able to get to the games faster than ever, etc. MS, had way too many sour points like DRM and envasive tech holding their conf back. Would have liked to see something outside of MS's typical (COD and Forza....)Neither of their shown exclusives excited me or anyone really, and when you remove that it was just multiplats. |
Solid post. Thanks for the thought out response and I agree Sony definitely sold to the core gamer (us) better.
