In all honesty, I'm absolutely shocked.

I've made a bunch of posts and even a thread about how Microsoft has fallen behind in terms of support for indie developers but I've always believed that Microsoft is far to savvy let that stand. I fully anticipated that Microsoft would match everything Sony and Nintendo have done and possibly even one-up them both.

Then came that comment that Microsoft wouldn't let indie developers self-publish. How could they lose so much ground without seeming to care? Are they only focused on the Activisions and EAs of the world?

They could still redeem themselves at E3, of course, but they've really fudged things up to this point, in terms of perception if nothing else. This is a pretty sharp contrast with what indie developers were saying after the Sony presentation.

Arrogance has come back to bit both Sony and Nintendo in previous generations--could it be Microsoft's turn?
